Vada Pav is one of Mumbai’s most famous food. It’s almost synonyms with the city, in fact I remember when I was in Mumbai few years back, it was one of my goals to eat vada pav. This popular street food is loved by one and all.
This recipe has 4 main ingredients – the vada, the dry garlic coconut chutney, the green chutney and the sweet tamarind chutney. You can skip the green and sweet chutney if you have no time for it but I highly recommend not skipping the garlic chutney.
It is basically Batata Vada sandwiched between slices of Pav along with a generous amount of sweet and spicy chutneys. It might seem like a lot of hard work but its actually pretty quick and easy to make at home.

Ingredients Quantity to Prepare Vada Pav Recipe
- 4 piece Pav Bun.
- 2 teaspoon Oil.
- 1/4 teaspoon Hing.
- 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds.
- 2 teaspoon Saunf.
- 1 Onion.
- 2 teaspoon Garlic Paste.
- 2 teaspoon Ginger Paste.
- 2 boiled Big Potato.
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder.
- ¼ teaspoon Soda.
- 2 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder.
- 2 teaspoon Coriander Leaves.
- 2 teaspoon Lemon Juice.
- Oil for dip fry.
- 2 teaspoon Garlic Clove.
- 2-3 Red Chilli Whole.
- 2 teaspoon White Sesame Seeds.
- 1 Cup Coconut.
- 2 teaspoon Roasted Peanuts.
- 1/2 teaspoon Tamarind.
- Salt to Taste.
Steps To Prepare Vada Pav Recipe
1 Take oil in a pan, put Hing, Mustard Seeds and Saunf. Roast together.Add onion and Garlic and Garlic Paste and saute well.
2 Now add boiled Potatoes, Turmeric Powder, Salt, 2 teaspoon of Red Chilli Powder and Coriander Leaves. Mix them well and add Lemon Juice. Saute to make a paste.
3 Next, take a bowl and add Besan, Soda, Salt and Red Chilli Powder. Put some water and mix thoroughly to make a Besan mix.
4 After that take the prepared masala paste and make small ball of it.
5 Dip the balls completely into the Besan mix and deep fry in the pan till golden brown.
6 Put oil in a pan and add Garlic along with Red Chilli Whole, White Sesame Seeds and desiccated Coconut.
7 Mix them well and add roasted Peanuts and 1/2 teaspoon each of Salt and Red Chilli Powder. Mix well.
8 Now add Tamarind and grind all the ingredients together to get a paste.
9 Finally take buns and put Green Chutney, masala paste and the fried masala Vada between them.
Now Vada Pav is Ready to Serve hot.
